DINA SCOPPETTONE

Dina Scoppettone is an award winning American photographer, and faculty in her tenth year teaching modern and contemporary visual culture at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, California. While earning her Master’s degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London in 1998, Scoppettone identified art as a resource for cultivating cultural diplomacy among nations.

Accordingly, Scoppettone founded the not-for-profit Omnio Global Art Society in 1999 to serve its flagship project, the Mural Cuba Collaborativa, featuring one hundred artists painting together during the International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Havana, Cuba
in 2000. Scoppettone was instrumental in establishing the Santa Cruz International Film Festival in 2001 where she served on the festival’s Board of Directors through 2008. As a founding member on the board of directors of the Viktor Kee Foundation, Scoppettone brings a fresh perspective on a new subject for mainstream visual culture to explore:
juggling for peace.
